JapNaam Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

JapNaam (“we”, “our”, or “the App”) is a mobile application for daily Naam Jap, mala tracking, devotion stories, and Kids Jap. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles and how it is used.

Your jap data stays on your device. JapNaam does not require an account and does not operate a custom backend server for your sadhana data.

2. Information stored on your device

Depending on how you use the App, JapNaam may store the following locally on your phone:

• Jap counts, mala progress, streaks, session duration, and sadhana analytics
• App settings (language, theme, sound/haptic preferences, reminders)
• Selected or custom mantras and favorites
• Optional display name
• Optional profile picture you choose from your gallery
• Backup files you export or import through the App

This information is stored using on-device local storage. It is not uploaded by JapNaam to our own servers, because JapNaam does not provide a cloud account or cloud sync service.

3. Permissions

JapNaam may request the following device permissions:

• Notifications — to show optional daily jap reminders you enable
• Photos / media (read) — only if you choose a profile picture or import a backup
• Vibration — for optional haptic feedback while jap-ing
• Boot completed — to restore scheduled reminders after device restart

You can deny optional permissions. Core jap counting works without gallery access.

4. Children

Kids Jap is a playful, family-friendly mode for learning Naam Jap. The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children through a network service. Parent or guardian oversight is recommended for younger users.

5. Sharing and sale of data

We do not sell your personal information. JapNaam does not share your jap counts, profile picture, or settings with third-party advertisers or data brokers.

The App may rely on standard platform services provided by Google (Android) or Apple (iOS) to run on your device (for example, system notifications). Those platforms process device information under their own privacy policies.

6. Analytics and advertising

JapNaam’s “Sadhana Analytics” feature calculates progress on your device from your local jap history. The App does not include third-party advertising SDKs or third-party analytics SDKs that send your jap history to external marketing services.

7. Data retention and deletion

• Local data remains on your device until you clear it in the App (where available) or uninstall JapNaam.
• Uninstalling the App removes App-stored data from that device (subject to your OS backup settings).
• Exported backup files are under your control wherever you save them.

8. Security

Because data is stored locally, protection depends primarily on your device security (screen lock, OS updates, and who has physical access to your phone). We recommend keeping your device updated and using a lock screen.

9. International users

JapNaam is designed for offline, on-device use. If you use the App outside your home country, your data still remains on your device unless you yourself export or transfer a backup.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective date” at the top will be revised when changes are published. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
